Freedom Dog Sanctuary

Freedom Animal Sanctuary is a newly formed non-profit organisation founded through the vision, love and compassion of animals and the selflessness donations of local business owners.

The Sanctuary through the kindness of its volunteers will provide a safe, caring and humane open-door refuge for homeless and adoptive cats and dogs where they can live and be protected in a safe-haven.

The Sanctuary will offer an open environment, so its residents are free to move about interacting with one another, volunteer staff and members of the public who wish to visit the Sanctuary or the Sanctuaries Nature Park or Café, in turn we hope this to nurture a healthy human-animal bond and the physical and mental wellbeing of the animals.

With the commitment of support from local Veterinarians and International Consultants whose expertise originated from numerous years with several different UK animal charities, we shall provide each resident of the Sanctuary vaccinations, medical checks and medical treatment as needed and in the best interest of the animals.

In Keeping with our vision to eventually eradicate overpopulation of stray and unwanted cats and dogs and the overcrowding of animal shelters in Cyprus we will follow a mandatory Spay- Neuter policy of all the incoming animals to the Sanctuary where feasible.

The Sanctuary’s belief is that all animals deserve to be treated with dignity, kindness and respect, as such we are committed to work on implementing programs with existing animal shelters to reduced their overcrowding by providing a safe environment and medical care for rescued stray cats and dogs allowing the shelters to concentrate their focus and increase the number of successful adoptions placing animals into suitable and loving permanent homes.

We shall encourage members of the public to visit the Sanctuary, Nature Park or Café and should they wish, interact with our residents. Through this approach we strive to raise consciousness and change present attitudes, transforming the way local people think of and treat animals and build a more compassionate community. We also aim to educate the younger generation, as such school programs shall be run along with Sanctuary visits teaching our youth the importance of caring for animals and the responsibilities and joys of pet ownership.

Freedom Animal Sanctuary will continue using social media and other advertising to promote, inform and remind the public of the important work the Sanctuary achieves in relieving the plight of homeless pets, elevate the status of animals within our community and continue to raise funds through charitable donations and fundraising.  The Sanctuary, Nature Park and Café are fully run by our volunteers, have no paid positions and although the Nature Park and Café supplement operational costs the majority of funding come from the donations, fundraisers and the good will of people who love animals and want to help, all funds that we receive directly benefit the animals in our care.
